Each year, the department releases the statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline to Victorian government primary schools in mid-late Term 4. The timeline includes key dates, activity descriptions and an overview of responsibilities to help schools plan for their Foundation enrolments.
Primary schools are required to implement the timeline in 2025 to support Foundation enrolments for the 2026 school year. The statewide timeline does not apply to primary schools exempt from the Placement Policy, such as specialist schools.
Key dates and activities for schools in the 2025–26 timeline include the following:
The enrolment information pack for parents and carers, available to download from the Enrolling in Foundation (Prep) includes the application form. From the start of Term 2, 2025, parents and carers can use the application form in the enrolment information pack to complete their enrolment application.
Schools may provide parents and carers with the enrolment form instead of the application form to complete their enrolment application, in accordance with the Enrolment Policy: Application and enrolment forms page.
Primary schools with an Enrolment Management Implementation Plan (EMIP) in place for the 2025 school year, or under enrolment pressure, are strongly encouraged to provide parents and carers with an application form.
For further guidance on which forms to use for Foundation and to download these forms, please refer to the Enrolment Policy: Application and enrolment forms page.
For enrolment forms for Year 1-6 enrolments please contact the office on 9740 8666.
Our school zone is available on , which hosts the most up-to-date information on school zones in Victoria.
Students residing within our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined on the basis of your permanent residential address.
Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and may enrol at another school if there are available places.

To ensure that our prep students' transition from home to school will be as smooth and as pleasant as possible, Sunbury West Primary School offers our new preps an orientation program.
The program consists of 3 sessions where the children come for an hour and do simple 'play activities'. These activities assist the children to develop familiarity with the school environment and help to settle day one nerves when the big day finally arrives. If possible we would like children to attend all three sessions.
