At Sunbury West we are committed to the Early Years Literacy and Numeracy programs throughout the school. An important component of these programs is the training of parents in the Classroom Helpers Program to support students in classroom activities.
Classroom Helpers offers an opportunity for helpers to share in the educational development of students with the support and direction of teachers.
The efforts of classroom helpers are a highly valued resource for students as opportunities for learning are nurtured by the participation of understanding adults.
The school offers a Classroom Helpers course which comprises of 4 sessions and helpers would be required to commit to at least one hour each week in the daily Literacy or Numeracy sessions in a classroom.
The Classroom Helpers Program generally runs from 9:30am to 11:00am on Wednesday mornings during March [We may change the day if this is unsuitable to the majority of parents in the group].
We can only take a limited number of parents in the course but we will run a second course if necessary. Grandparents are most welcome.
Details are generally sent our early February but please contact the school office if you require further information.
