Friend's of Sunbury West is the name of our school's Parents, Teachers and Friends group and is commonly referred to as “FOSW”.; Our group has been supporting Sunbury West since the school first opened in 1971. Our group is a forum through which parents and our school's community is able to work together to achieve a school environment that is both safe and conductive to better learning for our Children. These objectives are achieved by FOSW through fundraising each year which enables us to assist with major purchases that are not available through the Department of Eduction and Training (DEET) budgeting constraints. In recent years this has included the provision of: updated and safe playground equipment, air conditioning through out the school buildings, curtains in the Library, the creation of the Keyboard Bank, a yearly commitment of funds to be spent on the fitting out of the Gym and also expenditure in our Early Years Literacy and Numeracy Programs. This year alone we are proud to announce that we have allocated over $8,000.00, which has already been spent within Sunbury West Primary School.
We do try to vary our fundraising events and are always looking for new and exciting fundraisers, some of the events we have organised this year have been: Easter Raffle, Mother's Day Stall, Beanie Kids Assembly, Father's Day Stall, Shopping Bus Tour, Student's Disco and are currently organising our very popular Christmas Raffle.
On behalf of FOSW I take this opportunity to welcome all new families and those families who are increasing their family numbers to Sunbury West. Currently we have a membership of 20 parents, 3 of these are Dads and some even helped on the Father's Day stall. I extend a warm welcome to you to come and join our group, which meets the first Monday of each month at 7.30pm in the school staffroom. We are an informed and energetic group of volunteers who look after the needs of all our children at Sunbury West Primary School.
FOSW wishes each and every family a smooth transition to primary school and invites all “grown ups” to join us in working towards our main goal –
“a safe, secure and fun environment” at Sunbury West Primary School.
